I cannot believe that we have made so much progress in so little time!

Six months ago I believed that both my horse and I had probably got as far
as we could [we neither of us are in our first flush of youth!] and experienced all the
frustration that that feeling brings with it. Every time I felt that we were
making progress as a team we seemed to regress at an even greater speed!
Given that owning my horse and the subsequent riding is meant to provide
much needed relaxation and pleasure it seemed ironic that the experience was
becoming an increasingly negative one.

From the first lesson undertaken with Debbie we have not looked back and
the sense of achievement to date has felt wonderful. Debbie’s lessons are
a positive mixture of professional experience, knowledge, an intuitive eye,
natural empathy and endless patience. I can honestly say that I have never left
a lesson without feeling that we have made definite progress.

A few weeks ago my mare and I entered a dressage competition successfully
completing a test at a level rarely attempted before achieving a score
never achieved before. That was all the evidence I needed to confirm that
measurable progress has been made and that we can continue to do so.

In conclusion it is absolutely with no hesitation that I recommend Debbie as an
instructor, whatever your level of riding.

Earlier this year I contacted Debbie for help with flying changes, I had
been struggling for a while with my horse he was firmly in counter
canter; I had tried poles and small jumps to help but to no avail.
The first lesson I had with Debbie we worked on improving the canter to
help achieve the changes, she said next time we would start the changes, I
thought we had no chance, definitely not without a pole!!!
The next lesson we worked more with the canter and then Debbie told me
to go into counter canter, she told me what to do with the aids and to my
complete amazement we had a change! Maybe not the best but it was a
reaction I had never had (no poles!!). I was totally thrilled, and although
it hasn’t been easy we have now achieved changes.
Before my conversation with Debbie I had started thinking that maybe I
had got as far as I could with my horse, a 9 year old Welsh / Warmblood,
but through Debbie’s great knowledge of what is needed, her help and her
patience I now have the confidence to aim further.
Further to this with Debbie’s help to improve other work needed i.e.
lateral work, and also her watchful eye on the horse’s way of going our
percentages have improved.
The reasons why I would recommend Debbie and also why I chose to
have lessons with Debbie are that she has great experience of schooling
and riding horses at a very high level, the horses she rides herself have
been produced by herself from Novice, thus she has definite hands on
knowledge and experience at training at every level.
